About Me / Contact

Hey 👋  I’m Sam Davis, a front-end developer with a background in Graphic Design.

Since hacking together my first Myspace theme in high school, over 10 years ago, I knew that web development was the thing I was meant to be doing. Whilst this never changed, I grew a passion for graphic design as well, consequently I decided to study design in university. During my studies I used my free time and stayed up late learning and fine tuning my skills as a developer so that I could come out the end of my course as a fully fledged designer + developer.

My first commercial experience with building websites was for family and friends until I landed a job in 2013 as a designer/developer at the high school I had previously graduated from. It was during this role that I was tasked with rebuilding the school’s website to better align themselves with a recent rebranding they had undergone. Along with this, I developed a number of other sites for various projects whilst employed there.

During my final year of studies at uni (2015), I began an Internship with Bright Agency (formerly Forge Agency), a full spectrum creative agency, where I was offered a permanent position within a month. My role started out as a designer/developer but quickly shifted to primarily development work. As a result I was promoted to the role of Lead Developer. My new role was to oversee the development of all web  based projects that came through the studio. After 3 years in this role, I had personally built more than 50 websites spanning a broad range of clients and scope, from eCommerce to web-apps.

During my free time I am either teaching myself new technologies, undertaking some kind of personal project or completing freelance development work. Most recently I began the process of learning to create iOS apps – as a result I now have Sweather, a beautifully simple weather app, in the App Store. I currently have another app under construction that I am planning to release in 2018.

If you’d like to get in touch with me regarding work (or you just want to say hello!), please fill out the form on this page and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
